ESG consulting in Kosovo, built for the green transition.

EU market requirements are reaching Prishtina as customer data requests, bank questionnaires and CBAM demands — not as laws with Kosovo's name on them. Habitat delivers ESG consulting in Kosovo from Kosovo: GHG Protocol carbon accounting, CSRD-readiness and reporting that survives scrutiny, in English and in Albanian. Since October 2026 we do this work under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce to accelerate the green transition of Kosovo's business sector.

Why now

Where the ESG request comes from.

Hardly any company in Kosovo is named by an EU regulation. Yet in 2026 the ESG request arrives anyway — from three directions, each with a regulation behind it.

Your EU customers

Companies reporting under CSRD — after Omnibus I, undertakings with more than 1,000 employees and more than EUR 450 million net turnover — must cover their value chain. Their legal duty becomes your data request, even though CSRD never names a Kosovo company.

Your bank and your raters

Bank ESG questionnaires increasingly follow the VSME standard (Recommendation (EU) 2025/1710), designed as the cap on what large companies and banks ask SMEs for. EcoVadis and CDP score whether your numbers are measured, not guessed.

→ Carbon-priced trade

CBAM has run in its definitive regime since 1 January 2026. Regulation (EU) 2023/956 defines exactly what your EU customer must declare, and default values cost them a mark-up — 10% for 2026 imports, 20% for 2027, 30% from 2028. Verified data from you is worth money to them.

Three requests, one answer: a single, defensible ESG and emissions dataset, built once and reused for every questionnaire, tender and declaration. If the trigger on your desk is a bank form, start with the bank ESG questionnaire service.

How we help

GHG Protocol, CSRD-readiness and CBAM, bundled.

A bundle built for companies without a sustainability department: we measure, prepare the reporting and handle the EU-facing data work. Every engagement is scoped in writing — scope, timeline and price — with a fixed-fee quote within 48 hours.

Most engagements start with the footprint: it is the dataset every other request draws on.

Partnership

Working with Kosovo's institutions.

In October 2026 Habitat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce to accelerate the green transition of Kosovo's business sector — sustainable business practices, ESG integration and climate-technology adoption, delivered through expertise, training and digital solutions. Read the announcement.

It is not our first institutional engagement in the country: Habitat has also signed a partnership with USAID. The point of both is the same — EU market requirements will not wait for Kosovo's companies, so the expertise has to be available here, in Prishtina, in the language your finance team actually works in. The measurement itself runs on Karbon360°, our own ClimateTech platform.

Karbon360°

Karbon360° transforms energy and business activity data into structured greenhouse-gas inventories — Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculations, country-specific emission factors and the evidence trail behind every figure, in one place.

Kosovo reality

ESG in a coal-powered economy.

Kosovo's power generation is almost entirely coal-based, and for ESG work that is the defining fact: any emissions figure built from grid averages comes out heavy, however efficient the plant floor is. The honest response is methodological, not cosmetic — a GHG Protocol inventory with Kosovo-specific emission factors, Scope 2 reported both location-based and market-based as the Scope 2 Guidance requires, and every assumption documented so the number survives questioning.

The trade picture explains the urgency. More than 60% of Western Balkan goods exports go to the EU, which makes the region one of the most CBAM-exposed in the world. Kosovo's direct exposure is smaller than its neighbours' — CBAM-covered exports to the EU were about 1% of GDP on 2021 data — but it runs through metals and through the EU supply chains Kosovo firms feed, which is where the data requests land first. We cover the mechanism, the deadlines and the data flow in detail on CBAM Kosovo.

We deliver the work in English and Albanian — whether the request on your desk says ESG reporting or raportimi ESG, and whether the number being asked for is a carbon footprint or gjurma e karbonit. From Prishtina the same team serves companies in Albania, where ESG reporting follows the same EU-driven logic. The full service picture sits on our ESG consulting hub.

On Kosovo's grid, a default value is the most expensive number you can send.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

What does ESG consulting in Kosovo include?
Four connected pieces: an ESG baseline assessment with material topics and a roadmap; a GHG Protocol carbon footprint across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 with Kosovo-specific emission factors; the reporting output — typically a VSME report, bank questionnaire answers or an EcoVadis or CDP submission; and CBAM data support where you produce covered goods for EU supply chains. Training is part of the engagement, in line with our Kosovo Chamber of Commerce cooperation, so your own team can carry the work forward.
Does CSRD apply to companies in Kosovo?
Not directly, in almost all cases. After Omnibus I (Directive (EU) 2026/470), mandatory CSRD reporting covers undertakings with more than 1,000 average employees and more than EUR 450 million net turnover. What reaches Kosovo instead is the value chain: EU customers in scope must report on their suppliers, and the VSME standard is designed as the cap on what they should ask you for. A VSME-shaped answer is usually the right-sized response.
Can you deliver raportimi ESG in Albanian?
Yes — delivery is in English and Albanian, from Prishtina. Reports, data requests and training can run in either language, and the same team serves companies in Albania. What stays constant is the methodology: GHG Protocol accounting, country-specific emission factors, and documentation that holds up when an EU customer, bank or verifier asks how a number was produced.
What does the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce partnership mean for my company?
The Memorandum of Understanding signed in October 2026 commits Habitat and the KCC to accelerating sustainable business practices, ESG integration and climate-technology adoption across Kosovo's business sector — through expertise, training and digital solutions, including our Karbon360° platform. In practice it means structured ESG support and training designed for Kosovo companies meeting EU market requirements, delivered with the Chamber rather than imported as a one-off foreign project.
How much does ESG consulting in Kosovo cost?
We do not publish a rate card, because scope varies with sites, data quality and how far the reporting must go. What we commit to: scope, timeline and price in writing, and a fixed-fee quote within 48 hours of the first conversation.
